League leaders Boston who were undefeated before this game won the toss and put in St Annes on a wet wicket on which it was difficult to score and with some fine bowling mainly by P Wilkinson 4 for 30 restricted St Annes to 87 for 7 in 45 overs. Simon Owen with 31 grafted for his runs and he was well supported by Paul McCabe in his first match back.
Boston who fancied easily knocking off the runs were surprised by St Annes who held some brilliant catches, Fielded well to support top class bowling. Andy Taylor made the early breakthrough (3 for 21) and skipper Graham Tindall cleaned up the rest with 6 for 31 from 18.2 overs.
A fine win which helps St Annes close the gap on Boston and also inflict a phsycological blow to them in the chase for the League.
