| Match Report
A first defeat of the season for St Annes in another thrilling encounter. The St Annes innings was built around a second century for professional Dave Callaghan. His innings lasted 53 overs and he hit 11 fours and 1 six.He shared in two major partnerships with Evans -- 61 for the second wicket and 52 in 34 minutes with Davies. The final total of 186 came in 58 overs ( two lost to the rain) and although a perfectly acceptable score St Annes did not really accelerate over the closing overs.
As Callaghan had done for St Annes so Hunte did for Kendal - a partnership of 122 for the second wicket in 93 minutes with Little was the backbone of the Kendal innings.Kendal then collapsed losing five wickets for 20 runs thanks to some fine bowling from Davies. With only two runs to win Callaghan bowled the dangerous Fallows. Callaghan then had five balls at last man Wilson. The last ball of the over saw the number eleven edge through the slips for a winning four.
A disappointing end for St Annes but a truly exciting game with Kendal winning in 41 overs. St Annes will rue dropping the match winner Hunte when he was in the teens. Nevertheless they still take four bonus points from the match.
