| Match Report
After early rain ,play finally started at 3.00pm with play restricted to 35 overs per side . With a damp outfield and a slow wicket, runs were never going to come easily. However the experience of Russ and Neil Bradley and top scorer Bickerdike through to a useful total. Only four boundaries were scored in the entire innings, an indication of how slow the outfield was. Once Darlington and Davies had removed three of the top four Atherton batsmen with only nine on the board ,there was little doubt as to the eventual outcome. Taylor chipped in with two wickets in his first two overs, Cotton was a model of accuracy in his seven overs and the debutant Banks bowled at a lively pace to hit the stumps three times. He was rewarded with days best figures of 3-13. A totally convincing win for St. Annes who dominated in every department and showed the supremacy of the Northern League. A trip to either Fleetwood or Barnoldswick awaits.
