| Match Report
In another thrilling match St Annes, who had looked the likely winners throughtout, lost off the last ball. That Fleetwood were in a position to win was due to a mixture of dropped catches, sloppy fielding and indifferent bowling plus some genuine bad luck when Coultas was caught off a no ball. Earlier in the afternoon the St Annes innings was dominated by a 97 run partnership between Joe Davies and Neil Bradley. They both reached well deserved 50's and they were particularly hard on bowlers Newman, Brtacewell and Clinning.
St Annes made a great start with both Fleetwood openers out for nought, Clinning and Bracewell got Fleetwood back on track but they were always struggling with the run rate and the cause wasn't helped by two run outs. Coultas rode his luck along with Laird who both took a particular liking to the bowling of Davies. With 20 runs wanted off 15 balls, it was left to Gregson to hit 11 fron 7 balls. St Annes could still have won off the last ball when with two needed an accurate throw and take would have left Gregson short of his ground---- but it was not to be and Fleetwood were through. The St Annes players must have felt like Kendal the day before, knowing that they should have won. It is still a learning curve for some of the young St Annes players. They will have learnt a lot this weekend.
