| Match Report
On a glorious afternoon , St Annes and Kendal fought out a thrilling match in which fortunes ebbed and flowed right down to the penultimate ball. Early success for Callaghan and Davies reduced the visitors to 8-2, with the dangerous Hunte back in the pavillion.A third wicket partnership of 90 runs between Little and Howarth was the mainstay of the Kendal innings and this ,followed by much scampering of singles and leg byes saw them through to a reasonable total of 173. Callaghan finished off the innings in two balls to give him the best figures, although most of the bowlers had performed tidily.St Annes started badly losing Darlington at 6 and Evans and professional Callaghan at 36.Once again Callaghan had looked in splendid form but a rash charge at spinner Ellwood sealed his fate. It wasn't until Davies entered that the innings gained some impetus . Scoring off virtually every ball, he and Bickerdike put on 54 for the sixth wicket.Davies departed at 134 with his cameo innings taking just 29 minutes and 26 balls.St Annes then collapsed losing three wickets for three runs and at 137 -9 the last pair of Aiden Cotton and Zak Taylor were at the wicket needing 37 to win and just over six overs to get them in.The youngsters acheived it in great style with sensible running and never panicking. A great days cricket.
