Thanks to Ed McKenna for submitting this photo of the 1979 Under 11s squad who finished as runners up in the Lancashire (8 a side) U 11s competition at Old Trafford.
As a player at St Annes for 20 years before I left in 1997 I have kept up to date with progress from ex-team mates and now the web-site. Keep it up it's great.
However, can I correct the details from the 1979 photo of the Under 11s sent in by Ed McKenna. The photo was in fact taken in 1981 and we were under 13. The competition was based on 8 players batting in pairs for 4 overs each (you carried on batting for your 4 overs even if you were out - runs divided by wickets determined the winner). We had won the quarter final away at Formby and the semi finals and finals were held on the same day. Ted drove us to Old Trafford in a minibus - if only we knew then what we know now! - and we beat SW Manchester in the semi final but lost to Salisbury in the final. It was a great day out and one I will never forget - at least I managed to captain a wining side at Old Trafford even if it wasn't in the final.
