A STEP FORWARD
St Annes Cricket Club this week have taken a step forward in their arrangements for the present season. For a few years past the accommodation for visitors and scorers has been found to be inadequate for their needs, and another tent, one now in use as caddies tent by the Old Links Golf Club has been bought, and will in a few weeks, be placed alongside the existing one. It is proposed to use the present home side of the tent for the visitors and that which was formerly used for visitors as a room for the scorers and private lockers. The new tent which is divided into two rooms, will be set apart for the home team, and the other portion used for refreshments. It is also proposed to make some shelter for rough weather for the supporters of the club.
The club, for a few years, have received very little support from the public, yet, we doubt whether there is a better place in St. Annes to spend a summer's afternoon. The committee are doing their utmost to provide better accommodation in the shape of seating, and also providing refreshments at a small cost. Residents or visitors may spend a pleasant afternoon there and have a cup of tea if desired. It is hoped that residents will help the club by their presence and support, and help to put the club on a sound basis, so that in the near future St. Annes may have a cricket ground worthy of a progressive seaside resort, and one that will keep our own resident sportsmen in our town. A subscription list has been opened to defry the cost of the new pavillion, which will cost about £16, and about £3 was promised at the committee meeting.
