St Annes Win
The St Annes 1st XI started their weekend well with a 15 point away win against Morecambe. Batting first they set the home side a target of 164 after being bowled out in the 48th over. Dinuk claimed another five wicket haul as he dismissed the final Morecambe batsman with the home side one run shy of the target.
The seconds were soundly beaten by Morecambe as they were bowled out for just 114, a target that Morecambe reached with just 4 wickets down in the 32nd over. The third XI had a comfortable victory over Kirkham and Wesham 2nds. The fourth XI also won beating Fleetwood IV by 30 runs.
Dinuk Signs For 2011
We are very pleased to announce that our Professional Dinuk has agreed to sign for 2011. Dinuk has been an exemplary Professional on and off the pitch during his 2 seasons with the club so far and we are all looking forward to seeing Dinuk back in 2011. In 2009 he took 98 League and Cup wickets and he is already well on his way to beating that total this year.
Second XI Fixtures
The 2nd team league fixtures away to Barrow and at home to Carnforth have been rearranged for the following dates:
Sunday 22nd August – Away at Barrow
Sunday 29th August – Home to Carnforth.
Freddie Drops In
Andrew Flintoff was a surprise visitor on Sunday 8th August as St Annes 2nd XI played their Cup semi-final against Lancaster. Fred stayed for a chat with some former team mates and kindly signed autographs for a number of youngsters on the ground. St Annes won the game and will now play Chorley in the final on September 5th.
Flintoff Out for Season
The possibility that Andrew Flintoff could be making a return to Northern League cricket looks to have been dashed for this season as Lancashire announced that he will play no cricket for the remainder of the 2010 season.
Speaking on radio recently Andrew said that he was looking forward to returning to St Annes and meeting up with his former team mates again. Maybe next season!

Under 10's Set League Record
St Annes under 10's have re-written the record books in their first game of the season during the victory at South Shore. St Annes, batting first, did not lose any wickets in totalling 269 for 0 (it is pairs cricket and you start on 200, losing 5 runs per wicket lost). I received an e mail from League Secretary Mark Myers to confirm this was correct as this has never been done before at under 10 level, the fewest wickets lost in all past games at under 10 level is two. This is a great achievement by the boys and I wish to congratulate them all on this achievement, aswell as Neil Bradley and Javid Iqbal our under 10 coaching team.
A remarkable statistic so early in the season and one of which the club should rightly be proud. Keep up the good work lads.
